During this period, the biomass of A. aurita ranged from 15 to 1850 g/m2. Its maximal values were registered in the coastal regions of the Crimea. Adult specimens more than 50 mm in size prevailed. A. aurita consumed mainly Copepoda (Acartia sp.). Its daily ration accounted for 1.5−4.0 mg C/day, or 1−2.5% C of the body. It was essentially lower than food requirements of the animals under given temperature conditions. KEY WORDS: jellyfish zooplankton, Aurelia aurita, numbers, biomass, daily ration, zooplankton grazing
