Thermohydrodynamic Regimes of a Two-Phase Flow and Heat Transfer in Bubble Boiling of Water on Horizontal Tubes

ABSTRACT

Results of an experimental study of pool boiling of distilled water on horizontal tubes 10, 34, and 70 mm in diameter at a pressure of 100 kPa and specific heat loads from the initial vapor bubble generation to the critical one are presented. Motion of vapor bubbles and of the liquid produces a two-phase flow that changes its structure with an increasing heat flux. It is shown that all thermohydrodynamic regimes of the two-phase flow depend substantial on the diameter of the horizontal tube and on the temperature head of the onset of pool boiling.
