Experimental and Theoretical Study of the Ignition of the Combustible Forest Materials by a Light Flux

ABSTRACT

The results of experimental and theoretical study of ignition of various layers of combustible materials in a forest by a light flux are given. It is established that three regimes are possible depending on the light flux density: smouldering, gas-phase ignition, and carbonization. The values of the time of gaseous ignition have been determined numerically and are in good agreement with the experimental data.
