ABSTRACT

Miniature loop heat pipes (MLHPs) use evaporators with inverted meniscus. This design requires using capillary structure with a relatively high thermal resistance to avoid vaporization in the compensation chamber. MLHPs with the noninverted meniscus concept allow the use of capillary structure with a high thermal conductivity (such as copper powder capillary structure). Experimental tests of manufactured MLHPs with noninverted meniscus have shown that the thermal resistance of the evaporator with noninverted meniscus is significantly less than the thermal resistance of evaporators with inverted meniscus.
