TRUE COLOR IMAGE PROCESSING IN HEAT TRANSFER AND FLUID FLOW EXPERIMENTS

ABSTRACT

In this article three methods of quantitative presentation of velocity, temperature, isohydrogen ion line and flow birefringence are described, each of them using true color image processing. The question of future developments is examined, resulting in a proposal for simultaneous velocity and thermal field measurements involving liquid crystals and birefringent thermography. The concept of HSI color space instead of pH level is also introduced for study of combustion processes and turbulent diffusion flames in furnaces and heating plants.
