PROSPECTS OF CREATION OF NEXT-GENERATION REGENERATIVE GAS HEATERS USED IN INDUSTRIAL WIND TUNNELS FOR RESEARCH AT HIGH REYNOLDS NUMBERS
ABSTRACT
Specifications for gas heaters used in industrial hypersonic wind tunnels (HWTs) are determined. These heaters should provide certain ranges of the basic parameters to ensure gas heating in wind tunnels with a diameter of D = 1 m up to stagnation parameters corresponding to Reynolds numbers Re = 107, 108, and 109 at Mach numbers M = 5−10, 10−15, and 15−20, respectively. It is demonstrated that currently available schemes of regenerative gas heaters (RGHs) cannot create heaters with the required characteristics. New approaches and technical solutions are considered, which ensure the possibility of creating RGHs for next-generation industrial HWTs with a significant increase in the test gas pressure.
