SELF-SIMILAR SOLUTIONS FOR VISCOUS COMPRESSIBLE GAS FLOW INSIDE A CONE

ABSTRACT

The steady axisymmetric flow of viscous compressible gas from a source located at the cone vertex is considered. The necessary conditions for the existence of a self-similar solution of the Jeffery–Hamel type are established. In the case in which the wall temperature is set, the criteria for existence of self-similar solutions are found. Numerical analysis is carried out and the critical values of the dimensionless flow parameters are determined. For a thin cone, an asymptotic solution is obtained.
