VOLUME-CENTERED DISCHARGE IN SUPERSONIC AIR FLOW AT CONCENTRATED PROPANE AND OXYGEN INJECTION TO THE DISCHARGE ZONE
ABSTRACT
The results of a volume-centered discharge study are presented, in which concentrated propane and oxygen were injected to the discharge zone in a supersonic air flow at M = 2, static pressure in the range of ~ 4.7–7.1 × 104 Pa, and static temperature of 160 K. It was found that the state of medium similar to the known propane–oxygen flame could arise under these conditions. Such a flame could still exist after turning off the discharge. The results of a comparison of the relative intensities of the generating components of the plasma–chemical reactions and their volumetric distribution when the discharge was turned on and off and several electro-physical discharge characteristics are given.
