ABSTRACT

The description of a low-power aero-refrigeration setup intended for studying ice accretion processes on surfaces due to interactions with both super-cooled water droplets from a spray stream and with a stream containing ice crystals mixed with water droplets is presented. The gas-dynamic and thermal performances of the setup are presented. Examples of the size distribution of the water droplets and ice crystals in the air stream are given.
