ABOUT A GEOMETRIC GENOTYPE OF SHAPES OF AIRFOILS

ABSTRACT
A geometric genotype of airfoil shapes based on a universal reference function is proposed. The universal functions forming the airfoil families are offered. A concept of basic airfoil spline is introduced to identify an arbitrary airfoil contour. A concept of an aerodynamic airfoil spline and its application in the problems of optimization of aerodynamic airfoil characteristics is proposed.
