ABSTRACT

A review of theoretical and experimental investigations of the laminar−turbulent transition in a swept-wing boundary layer is presented. The validity of the results obtained for development of transition prediction methods suitable for flight conditions and wind-tunnel tests is analyzed. Particular attention has been given to boundary-layer receptivity to free-stream disturbances. The receptivity problem is of outstanding importance for correct computation of the transition location.
