THERMODYNAMIC ANALYSIS OF MULTISTAGE FLASH DISTILLATION APPLICATION IN WASTEWATER TREATMENT
ABSTRACT
This paper presents a thermodynamic system of multistage flash (MSF) distillation for wastewater treatment. The system has been designed to concentrate the wastewater with an iteration method. A case study has been developed in this paper. The sample wastewater and waste heat source are supplied from a power plant. The multistage flash distillation system is designed to concentrate the wastewater with high density (54.0 g/L) of sodium nitrate into 216.0 g/L. In this case, 4-stage flash distillation systems are designed with various evaporating temperatures. Furthermore, performance and main structure parameters are calculated.
