Use of the Androgen Receptor Antagonist for the Enhancement of the Gonadotrophic Inductors of Ovulation Action in Rats with Polycystic Ovaries
ABSTRACT
Hormonal indices, phase pattern of estrous cycles, and histology of the ovaries were studied in female rats with polycystic ovaries caused by subcutaneous implantation of Silastic capsules with testosterone after consecutive treatment with non-steroidal antiandrogen, flutamide (Flutafarm), urinary FSH (Menopur) and hCG (Choragon). It was shown that against the increased level of plasma testosterone, administration of the drugs administered in subtherapeutic doses interrupted persistent diestrus, renewed estrous cycles, restored gonadal and uterine weights, appearance of postovulatory luteal bodies and fertility. Therefore, pharmacodynamic effect of antiandrogen potentiation of the gonadotrophins with regard to their ability to induce the ovulation was found out.
