Effect of Seepage Losses on the Head Drop in a Drainage Backfill in the Course of Its Moistening

ABSTRACT

It is demonstrated on the basis of analytic and experimental studies of the dynamics of the ground-water level on the background of a horizontal tube outlet for subsurface moistening that allowance must be made for seepage-induced head losses in a drainage backfill, caused by the rise of the water level in it. An expression for the ground water level of a drainage backfill is obtained and verified.
