ABSTRACT

A comparative study on the effect of the carcinogenic compound nitrosodimethylamine (NDMA) in the concentration of 500 mg/L on chlorococcal algae from genera Chlorella Beijer., Scenedesmus Meyen and Pseudococcomyxa Korsch. (six strains) was conducted. Depending on the algal assay, its action was found to be different: NDMA produced a stimulating effect on the growth and development of algae of the genus Scenedesmus, a negative action on the algae from the genus Chlorella, and did not affect algae from the species Pseudococcomyxa simplex (Mainx) Fott.
