New representatives of Chroococcophyceae (Cyanophyta) from the Mount Carmel National Park and Dead Sea area, Israel

ABSTRACT

Six representatives of Chroococcophyceae (Cyanophyta) are new for Israel: Gloeocapsa alpina (Nag.) Brand f. alpina, G. alpina f. lignicola (Rabenh.) Hollerb., G. kuelzingiana Nag., G. tenax (Kirchn.) Hollerb., Gloeothece vibrio N. Carter var. abiscoensis Skuja, Gomphosphaeria aponina Kutz. f. cordiformis (Wolle) Elenk., were discovered in aquatic and terrestrial habitats of Mount Carmel National Park, and in the Dead Sea area. Their descriptions, drawings and localities are presented.
