ABSTRACT

The indices of biomass and production of aquatic vegetation, as well as prediction of their possible values with regard to a wide spectrum of resources formed by aquatic and terrestrial cryptogamie and vascular unicellular and multicellular plants are discussed. The total phytoniass and concentration of phytomass over the area of habitat, phytomass per unit of area, and the increase in mass of different groups of plants, including algae, within the same period of time, were compared by the main types of vegetation. Different groups of aquatic and terrestrial plants were found to be closely similar in terms of their resources and bioproductional parameters. Different groups of aquatic and terrestrial plants were found to be characterized by a similar range of variability of the above-mentioned indices related to the diversity of natural and climatic conditions of aquatic and terrestrial habitats. The parameters to be taken into account in predicting the biomass and production of aquatic plants in nature and aquaculture are considered based on the experience of intensive plant cultivation in agriculture.
