ABSTRACT
Spontaneous light emission of the monolayer of Noctiluca scintillans Sur. (Dinophyta) cells was investigated in pure sea water and with the addition of a toxicant. It has been established that the frequency of microflashes is a function of cell density and is not associated only with mechanical contacts. The addition of various toxicant doses results in low-level oscillating luminescence, the oscillation period of which depends on toxicant concentration and exposure time.
