The jet disintegration is controlled by an excitation device. The properties of the liquid-surface displacement are obtained by a morphological analysis of two-level images of the jet. A model based on the linear analysis of the jet stability is proposed to estimate the growth rate of the capillary wave. This model supposes that the image grabbing time is stochastic. To fulfill this hypothesis, a subset of the initial image series is extracted with a filter based on proper orthogonal decomposition. Eventually, the growth rate is found to be sensitive neither to the statistical properties of the image series nor to the number of images in the series. %8 2004-11-04
