Smith on the Survival of Carp Underyearlings JF Hydrobiological Journal JO HYD YR 2006 FD 2007-01-27 VO 42 IS 6 SP 85 OP 92 AB A preparation that contained 42% of alkaloids was obtained from rhizomes of yellow water lily (spatterdock, Nuphar lutea (L.) Smith). This alkaloid complex exerted toxic influence on the fish at any modes of its administration, causing inhibition of motor activity, slowing down of respiratory movements of gills, and increased oxygen consumption. The doses 0.3—1.0 g/kg are fatal to fish. When the dose is 0.05 g/kg, the signs of poisoning are observed only during the first hours of experiment.
