T1 Turbulent Flow Distribution in Adjoining Subchannels of Unequal Size JF International Journal of Fluid Mechanics Research JO FMR YR 1998 FD 1998-12-01 VO 25 IS 4-6 SP 496 OP 505 AB An experimental and analytical study is made on the singly phase turbulent flow distribution in two interconnected subchannels. The experiment consisted of detailed measurements of the axial velocity and pressure gradient distribution in a geometry representing two communicating subchannels of different sizes at two Reynolds numbers of 108,000 and 180,000. The analysis concentrated on applying a three dimensional finite difference fluid flow code to subchannel geometries using the two equation k−ε model. The performance of this model was assessed and unique features of the subchannel turbulent flows were identified and discussed. Conclusions regarding the ability of a multidimensional code to predict the flow fields were presented.
