Heat transfer of a single-component liquid on the surface of a fluted helix horizontal tube is taken into consideration. A convectional test bed was developed and a numerical model was also established. The flow and temperature distributions can be obtained both mathematically and experimentally. The results show that the rising liquid film can uniformly cover the surface of the tube due to capillary-induced rewetting; a fluted helix tube with smaller pitches is better for the formation of the rising liquid film and can enhance heat transfer performance, the rising liquid film on the surface of a metallic mesh tube becomes more homogeneous and contributes to a higher heat convection coefficient with an increase in the amount of mesh, and the subcooled degree and mass flux make significant contributions to the convective heat transfer coefficient. %8 2012-03-23
