Based on the experimental data, the degree of the reliability of predicting the minimum energy required for ignition of the combustible material has been evaluated with the aid of a general mathematical model of forest fires. The methods to record the luminous temperature fields for determining the contours of the fire source and a new more precise formula for the velocity of the ground forest fire propagation are given.
