Experiences from scaling up from pilot plant operation to industrial size plants are presented.
The cost for pilot plant equipment and operation increases with scale of operation. Technological problems and basic physical limitations associated with operation of high temperature processes makes it necessary to choose a reasonably high capacity for a process testing unit. A suitable size according to our experience is 200 to 1000 kg/h which corresponds to a power range for the plasma system of 200 -1500 kW.
An industrial unit needs more powerful plasma systems often in the range 6-8 MW.
Results from tests to study basic parameters for scaling up of pilot plant size plasma generators to industrial size are presented. PB Begell House LK https://www.dl.begellhouse.com/journals/57d172397126f956,0ea4d29726956133,673251dc3a6c22d5.html
