要約

Computer simulation has been performed of two radar techniques, namely the monopulse and the off-boresight, for estimating elevation angles of low-altitude targets under the conditions of multipath radio wave propagation over a rough sea surface. In the course of modeling attention was concentrated mainly at dependences of the elevation angle measurement error on the phase difference between the direct signal and the specular-reflected radar echo. It has been found that the error of elevation angle measurements shown by the monopulse technique may assume anomalously high values for certain ranges of the phase difference, thus provoking conditions for target mistracking. The phase difference between the direct and the specular reflected signal is different within these ranges from those corresponding to minima and maxima of the interference field structure (relative to the center of the receiving antenna). It has been shown that application of the off-boresight technique can be, under similar conditions, free of the mistracking effect, hence allowing an essential (up to several times) decrease of measurement errors of the target elevation angle.
