The Thin Dielectric Coating of the Smooth Metallic Cylinder High-frequency Excitation by the E-polarized Field of the Point Source
要約
A thin dielectric layer of variable thickness covering a perfectly conducting cylinder of sufficiently arbitrary cross-section is excited by the E-polarized wave of the point source. The solution is constructed approximately with the help of the projection method which generalizes the Sommerfeld approach. The radial parts of the singular eigensolutions of the Helmholtz equation are the cylindrical functions satisfying the boundary condition via the complex indexes depending on the angular coordinate are used as the basis functions. In high-frequency case for the boundary small distorted with respect to the circle the Infinite Ordinary Differential Equations system (ODEs) may be reduced to the independent diagonal equations solved explicitly using the WKB approximation for the unknown functions of angular coordinate. The approximate solution is represented as the generalized Watson series. Such a form of the approximate solution enables us to construct high-frequency asymptotic representations of the field in the illuminated and shadow domains corresponding to the generalized ray picture These representations in their invariant form provide the asymptotic solution of the Keller type and permit to obtain the simple algorithms of the coating parameters calculation in order to minimize the back-scattering.
