Secondary structures in aeronautics as the floor panel and cabin monuments or spoilers usually consist of honeycomb sandwich structures. The insert as local reinforcement is generally used to join sandwich structures. Damage and post-damage behaviors of the potted insert in sandwich structures were studied. Quasi-static indentations of 0.5 mm depth were performed using a spherical indentor, and the failure patterns were analyzed. Three different damage locations were studied, and the damaged specimens were then tested in pull-through until the final rupture. Some stopped tests were carried out to detail the failure scenario. Experimental results show that such damage has no influence on the residual strength.
