Changes in secretory activity of the pineal organ resulting from the rainbow trout (Salmo irideus) exposition under different lighting regimes (L:D − 12:12; 24:0; 0:24) were analyzed as the mechanisms caused variations in skin pigmentation, leukocyte formula, rates of somatic growth, degree of gonad maturation, as well as in manifestation of schooling, and rheotaxis. These experiments have definitely shown the role of pineal organ in regulation of fish individual life cycle.
