要約

The potential use of nanotechnology was employed to accurately determine the role of the reverse temperature gradient as a driving force for moisture transfer in wood during a low-temperature convective drying process. Poplar boards treated with nano-silver (nano-Ag) particle suspension were conventionally dried at a constant mild drying condition. In contrast to untreated boards, a reverse temperature gradient developed in the nano-Ag-treated boards; i.e., a greater temperature value in the core compared to the surface developed within the treated boards due to the distinct thermal conductivity of the nanoparticles. The insignificant effect of nano-Ag treatment on the drying rate of wood in the domain of bound water diffusion reflects that the temperature gradient cannot be considered as an effective driving force for moisture flow in wood during a low-intensity convective drying process.
