NUMERICAL STUDY ON THE EFFECT OF MAGNETIC FIELD IN A POROUS ENCLOSURE USING NANOFLUID WITH MID-HORIZONTAL MOVING LID: BRINKMAN-FORCHHEIMER EXTENDED DARCY MODEL
要約
Two-dimensional combined convection of a Cu-water nanofluid in a square enclosure filled with a fluid-saturated porous medium subjected to uniform magnetic field was numerically analyzed in the present work. The mathematical model consists of Darcy-Brinkmann-Forchheimer extended momentum equations and the enclosure having a midhorizontal moving wall, adiabatic top and bottom wall, and isothermally cooled vertical walls. The governing equations are numerically solved by using the control volume method. Numerical results are presented for a range of parameters such as the Hartmann number (0 ≤ Ha ≤ 100), Richardson number (0.01 ≤ Ri ≤ 100), Darcy number (Da = 10−3, 10−2, 10−1, ∞), and solid volume fraction (0.0 ≤ φ ≤ 0.2). Results indicate that all the governing parameters of the flow have a strong influence on the flow pattern and temperature distribution within the enclosure which is strongly affected by the presence of the magnetic field. The average Nusselt number is found to decrease with increase in Hartmann number and increases with increase in Darcy number.
