Conjugate Heat Transfer in Laminar Flow through Wavy Passages

In this paper, conjugate heat transfer has been studied for fully developed laminar flow through the wavy channel. The channel boundaries are approximated by a cosine function. It is assumed that heat flux on the outer edge of the channel wall is constant. The governing equations including continuity, momentum, and energy equations are solved numerically using a finite volume method (SIMPLE) in the curvilinear coordinate system. The numerical results for fluid bulk temperature, solid-fluid interface temperature, solid-fluid interface heat flux, and Nusselt number are presented for a wide range of conjugate heat transfer parameters such as the Peclet number, solid-fluid conductivity ratio, and solid thickness-wall wavelength ratio. To validate the computer program, the results are compared with the nonconjugate case and good agreement is observed.
