PLASMA : A POSSIBLE SOLUTION FOR STABILISATION OF WASTE ?
要約
For the last few years in France, the glass has taken a particularly important place in stabilisation of different waste: nuclear, asbestos polluted sols, domestic or hospital waste. Indeed, the glass is a particularly stable material and relatively easy to obtain by rapid quenching of a liquid of a suitable composition. For this purpose, some French groups have developed plasma furnaces in 1990's. The plasma gives the energy required for melting of materials in which the harmful elements are inserted.
However, stabilisation and long-term comportment of these waste containment glasses must be perfectly known. In this paper, three examples of studies, concerning nuclear waste containment glasses and domestic waste containment glasses are developed. The Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy allows probing locally a structural and chemical proximity of selected nucleus and constitutes a powerful tool to analyse these materials in the liquid or solid state.
