A numerical model has been developed to calculate properties of non-thermal arc produced between two pointed electrodes. The model consists in solution of continuity electron equation and electron and heavy particles energy equations. The ratio between electron temperature and heavy particles temperature is about 5. The electric conductivity for these temperatures is 1.4 S/m and calculated with equilibrium assumption is 250 S/m. Joule heat is transferred in elastic collisions with heavy particles. The energy of heavy particles is dissipated by thermal conductivity. The results for electron and heavy particles temperatures as well as electron density are presented for argon arc with current of 240 mA, voltage of 210 V and 28 mm electrode spacing. Careful experimental and theoretical observations reveal that the influence of non-equilibrium on re-ignition of the arc after zero current is very important.
