STRENGTH ESTIMATION OF METAL-COMPOSITE JOINTS WITH NUISMER CRITERION APPLICATION

A method to estimate the strength of metal-composite joints, which was proposed by Nuismer for computing composite structure elements with through-cut hole stress concentrators, is developed based on new numerical–experimental investigations. In addition to the characteristic dimension parameter introduced by Nuismer, which takes into account composite disintegration, a new correction in the form of a coefficient that takes into account the material anisotropy is proposed. This fact increased the accuracy of the strength computation for joints and in comparison with the experimental results. It also reduced the discrepancy from ~ 27% to ~ 10%.
