要約

In a previous paper by the first author (Sab, K., C. R. Mec. 331:641−643), a homogenization procedure for the yield design of thin periodic plates was proposed and applied to masonry walls. In this paper the authors develop the said approach for both thin and thick periodic brickwork plates, taking into account the effect of texture (stack bond and running bond) and out-of-plane shear forces on the yield strength domain. The periodic brickwork is made of 3D infinitely resistant blocks connected by Mohr-Coulomb interfaces. Following the above-mentioned homogenization procedure, the panel is first modeled as a homogeneous Love-Kirchhoff plate subject to in-plane and out-of-plane loads. Then, it is shown how a Reissner-Mindlin model can be adopted in order to capture the effect of out-of-plane shear forces. A kinematic approach for the determination of the overall strength domain is performed. For a stack bond pattern, the projection of this strength domain on subspace M12 = 0 is analytically obtained and bounds on the extreme values of M12 are derived. For a running bond pattern, analytical, and numerical characterizations of the strength domain are reported.
