Twenty three algal species new for the benthic flora of the Commander Islands shelf are presented. Five of them (Erythrocladia irregularis Rosenv., Palmaria callophylloides Hawkes et Scagel, Congregatocarpus aleuticus (Wynne) Wynne, Tayloriella abyssalis Wynne, and Beringiella labiosa Wynne) are new for Far Eastern Seas' flora, while 8 species are apparently very rare. A brief discussion on their morphology, ecology and distribution on the Commander Islands shelf is given.
