A comparison of characteristics of morphological-physiological and biochemical traits in three strains of Haematococcus pluvialis Flotow (Chlorophyta, Chlamydomonadales)

Peculiarities of morphology and chemical composition of vegetative cells and aplanospores in three strains of Haematococcus pluvialis Flotow under conditions of a two-stage batch culture, are studied. It is shown that strains of H. pluvialis of various geographic origin and storage conditions in collections of microalgal cultures may differ significantly in a number of morphological and physiological-biochemical traits: shape and sizes of cells, optical characteristics of culture, growth rate in the vegetative phase of life cycles and also in intense metabolic processes providing the formation of aplanospores.
