A description of Tabellaria stellata Kulikovskiy sp. nov. is given. It was revealed that this taxon has tri-polar valves, which was previously unknown in the genus Tabellaria Ehr. (Bacillariophyta). The tri-polar shape of valves of T. stellata are similar to Fragilaria reicheltii (Voigt) Lange-Bert.
