AB The output characteristics of the diffraction radiation oscillator working on high-order spatial harmonics are studied. For the 1st and, in particular, the 2nd spatial harmonics of the same oscillator, the levels of the output power and the starting current are compared, and the gains from the operation on the 2nd harmonic are shown. A physical interpretation is suggested for the mechanism providing enhanced oscillator efficiency on high-order spatial harmonics.
