RT Journal Article ID 266498f0575c87f3 A1 Volkov, Konstantin A1 Emelyanov, Vladislav T1 MODELLING OF THE INTERACTION OF A PULSE OF LASER RADIATION WITH A LIQUID DROPLET JF High Temperature Material Processes: An International Quarterly of High-Technology Plasma Processes JO HTM YR 2006 FD 2006-03-01 VO 10 IS 1 SP 141 OP 159 AB A model of optically-induced breakdown in individual liquid droplets resulting pulse of laser radiation is developed. Heating and evaporation of droplet, formation of vapour aureole, its ionization, and expansion of shock waves in surrounding space are considered as separate stages of the process. The breakdown conditions and the intensity of laser pulse required for optical breakdown depending on the size of the droplet and the radius of the laser spot are investigated and computed.
