To reduce the back radiations in the antenna, semi oval defects in the ground plane has been proposed. The prototype antenna has achieved high FBR without much affecting the gain and bandwidth. The proposed antenna has achieved impedance bandwidth of 71.4% for the frequency range 1.8 GHz–3.8 GHz. The measured FBR varies from 21 dB to 29 dB with stable gain of 7.1 dBi and unidirectional radiation pattern with symmetrical E-plane and H-plane has also been obtained.
