Measurements of temperature and NO profiles are taken and compared to numerical computations. At a constant strain rate of 100 s–1, three series of fuel compositions varying from 0% to 100% H2 in CH4 are run. Flame peak temperatures are kept constant for each series at 1840 K, 1940 K, and 2040 K, by varying diluent fractions in the fuel stream from 19 to 71 vol% N2. The temperatures are kept constant to eliminate the effect of varying thermal NO production with varying temperatures and, thus, we can study the chemical effect of having both fuels present. The measured values of NO range from 5.9 to 80.9 ppm. Good comparisons to numerical computations are found for the lowertemperature flames for each pure fuel, while there are some deviations for the hottest flames. Lower NO results are obtained in the experiments compared to the numerical computations for the mixture of both fuels. The results show that mixing H2 into CH4 will increase NO emissions versus burning them alone and diluted. %8 2003-12-01
