A PFDG consists of strips located within a plane according to segments which form a certain stage of generation of a self-similar fractal with variable Hausdorff dimension. The problem of plane H-polarized electromagnetic wave scattering by the PFDG is treated in the classically rigorous formulation. Making use of the integral equation technique the 2D exterior Neumann problem for the Helmholtz equation is reduced to a 1D problem of solving a set of integro-differential equations and then to a set of integral equations. A technique is suggested for solving the problem for an asymptotic model of loose PFDGs. The efficiency of the model is illustrated by the case study of a diffraction grating consisting of two strips. Direction patterns are calculated numerically and compared with familiar results. %8 2012-08-09
