Numerical Simulation on Mixed Convection in a Porous Medium Heated by a Vertical Cylinder
要約
Numerical simulation has been performed for mixed convection of heated vertical cylinder in a saturated porous medium subjected to lateral flow. Three different geometric aspect ratios were considered which give a relative heater size (axial length/diameter) of 5−25. Based on dimensional analysis and nonlinear regression, correlations for Nusselt number against Rayleigh and Peclet numbers have been obtained. It is shown that the average Nusselt number (Nu) is function of Rayleigh number (Rad) and Peclet number (Pe). While Rad/Pe < 1, Nu = 3.1 * √Pe and while Rad/Pe ≥ 1, Nu/Pe1/2 = 3.1 + 0.4(Rad/Pe − 1)1/2 . As compared with Nu = 3.1Pe1/2 for the case of forced flow around a vertical cylinder embedded in a porous medium, the results of this investigation indicates that heat transfer can be remarkable enhanced for the case when natural convection is dominant over forced convection.
