In this study the effect of radiation has been considered in liquid spray combustion chamber. The discrete ordinates method (DOM) is employed to solve the radiative transfer equation (RTE) and the weighted sum of gray gases model (WSGGM) is applied to estimate a nongray radiation effect by CO2 and H2O gases. The absorption coefficients derived from WSGGM are used with DOM by summing solutions of the RTE for each gray gas. Eulerian-Lagrangian scheme is adopted for the analysis of liquid drops and air. The interactions between two phases are considered with particle source in cell (PSIC) model. The results show that the gasification of droplet becomes intenser due to radiation, resulting in shorter droplet trajectories. A higher temperature distribution inside the combustor is also obtained. Therefore, the performance in a spray combustor is enhanced by radiation effect.
