NUMERICAL INVESTIGATION OF BOILING INSIDE A HYPERVAPOTRON WITH DIFFERENT FIN GEOMETRIES
要約
In the present work we perform three dimensional numerical simulations of the phase change process that occurs during sub-cooled boiling of water inside two different hypervapotron geometries. We use the open source flow solver OpenFOAM to explicitly track the liquid-vapor interface and investigate the effects of different fin geometries used inside the device on the flow and heat transfer characteristics. We observe that the vapor bubble nucleation occurs at sharp corners and intersections between cavity walls and smaller bubbles coalesce to form bigger bubbles which finally detach from the base and condense in the incoming sub-cooled liquid stream. The maximum operating temperature in the devices is observed to be near 450 K after a time span of 0.27 second under a constant heat flux of 4×106 W/m2.
