Mode Evolution in an Open Resonator with a Diffraction Grating

RESUMO

The field distribution in the open resonator of a diffraction radiation generator (orothron) has been studied as a function of the separation between the plane reflector and the reflective diffraction grating that partially covers the reflector. It has been shown that any field distribution in such a cavity can be represented as a sum of several modes of the respective cavity without the grating. Besides, each of such "clustered" oscillations behaves as a single entity.
