RESUMO

A method for estimation of the wave field in the geometric shadow for the arbitrary distribution of the refractive index in the troposphere is considered. The geometrical optics and Fresnel-Kirchhoff integral are used to calculate the field in the Fresnel diffraction region of the secondary radiation sources. The results conform to experimental data obtained in the UHF band.
