On the Correlation between the Low-Frequency Spectra of Non-Thermal Radio Sources and Physical Characteristics of Space. Part I. (Review)

RESUMO

Various physical effects resulting in the deviation of the space radio-source spectra from the power law of variation, characteristic for the synchrotron generation mechanism, are investigated. In the event of one-component radio sources, these effects produce so-called type-II spectra. For two-component radio sources, type-III and type-IV spectra can be observed. Discussed are both direct problems, where the radiation spectra are determined from the known medium parameters, and inverse ones, where the parameters of space medium such as electron temperature, emission factor (electron concentration) and space magnetic field strength are found from the measured spectra.
