EVALUATING THE PACKET TRAFFIC PARAMETER MEASUREMENTS

RESUMO

This article discusses the aspects of processing the statistical data, which is obtained as a result of the packet traffic parameter measurement and represented as a histogram. It reveals that approximating the histogram with a continuous function may lead to noticeable errors, which are especially large if there are several extrema. Based on the histogram data, authors propose an approach to improve the accuracy of the evaluation of the stochastic characteristics that define the quality of the packet traffic processing.
